Our History

Material Advantage is a national organization supported by four professional societies and has various chapters across the country.

At the University of Minnesota, Material Advantage was founded in 1987 as a student group engaged in the understanding and growth of materials science at the University.

Our Past

Looking at the past of Material Advantage at the University, much of our work was focused on connecting with industry partners, outreach to local schools and organizations, and maintaining our position on campus. Since 2013, we regularly worked with professionals, other student groups, and professors to advance materials science and engineering. While some of our efforts may have changed, our mission and purpose has not.
