As a student group at the University of Minnesota, any student is able to join and participate in Material Advantage. And we welcome you!
Although many of our members are materials science, chemical engineering, or chemistry majors, all majors are welcome to participate in Material Advantage, the Bladesmithing Team, Materials Bowl, and more!
How do I join?
Joining is as simple as showing up for events!
There's no fee to be a member of the University of Minnesota Student Chapter of Material Advantage, so you can consider yourself a member by participating. Whether you just want to show up to General Meetings (monthly meetings), want to get really involved in Bladesmithing, or just want to form some professional and networking connections, Material Advantage is here for you.
Some of our events, including many bladesmithing events, require RSVP due to a limited number of spots. We recommend always filling out these RSVP forms as soon as possible to ensure we're properly set-up and to make sure you get to participate! To stay up to date, consider joining our Discord Server, which is the fastest way of communicating with members of the group, subscribing to our newsletter for event and activity updates, following us on Instagram, and checking our event calendar.
